Water Purifier for schools
India is facing the challenges of providing clean water to its citizens. Large portion of India’s population are still deprived of clean water. Many death mainly infants deaths are due to consumption of contaminated & unsafe water. People of this region are also living in this dire situation. To know the situations in schools, a ground survey has been carried out by this office at 20 different Government run schools in and around Salugara, West Bengal (which are the beneficiaries of the Trust’s annual charity programs). It has been found that 4 schools have water filter installed but very old and not properly working, 8 schools don’t have water filter therefore the teachers & the students drink water directly from the unfiltered tap water, 5 schools have very low pressure water supply from the water tank place on the ground level & remaining 3 schools don’t have even water supply. These government schools provide mid day meal to students, they use unfiltered water tap in cooking the meals. In schools where there isn’t water connection they fetch water in jar from neighbouring places.
The trust has decided to distribute top branded water filter to those school which required the most.
