Blanket Distribution
Winter season in this region is harsh particularly for poor people who don’t have proper shelter and clothes to cover & keep themselves warm. Countless numbers of poor infants and elders die during these harsh season. At a recent meeting, trust board members has decided to distribute blankets to poor & needy people, especially to those who are homeless beggars wandering at a various locations around the town.
On the night of 27th December 2021, a team of Ewam India members, staff, nuns & volunteers left with the truck load of blankets towards Siliguri town, initially the program was to held at NJP railway station but due to the disruption created by the unruly beggars & passengers and the team unable to manage the crowd, had to left the spot after distributing only a portion of stock. The team then visited & distributed blankets at Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand and Siliguri Junction Railway Station at Hill Cart Road where scores of beggars, homeless and passengers are battling the cold chilly winter night.
The team then travelled from Railway junction towards Sevoke more and then the whole length of Sevoke road and distribute blankets to poor, beggars, mentally retarded people found in the stretch of this highway. The program for that night was concluded at around 1am.
On the late night of 28th December 2021, the team again left with a truck load of blankets once again towards the NJP railway station, crowd started to gather around the charity program areas mostly of whom are beggars and homeless. Before starting the program the crowd were arranged in a single line and the distribution went smoothly, infants, old, sick and poor passengers lying on the pavement of the railway station were all provided with the warm blanket which will keep their physical warm for this chilly winter season.
The team then visited the Siliguri District Hospital near Venus more at the heart of the town, where large number of poor people and patient sleeping at the verandahs, waiting areas & every nooks & corner of the hospitals trying to keep themselves warm from this cold winter nights, all of them were provided with a blanket including those sanitation workers & staffs of the hospital on late night duty.
The team visited the slums areas along the highway in Matigara, opposite of the Siliguri Police Commissionarate office, large number of poor people residing in that slums area, there were scores of families sleeping in the open area in that forest covering only with a thin shawl or sheet battling against cold weather and mosquitoes. There were infants, elders and women barely have anything to cover themselves. The members of the team bearing the dark and the filth all over the place visited each and every tent and people, handed over blankets which will atleast keep themselves out of the risk of death due to cold winter season. The team were back to their home around 2:30am.

Blanket Distribution
On 2nd January, 2022, a charity program of free distribution of blankets was held at Ewam India monastery in Toribari, the distribution program starts at around 10am, coupons were handed over to poor people days earlier through village head or through the Panchayat. More than 1700 pcs of blankets were distributed on that day, poor people from different corner of nearby villages such as Toribari, Samar Nagar, Majhua Busty, Kherjora, Kola bari, Shisha Bari, Singhijhora, Demdema, naya Busty, Milan more, Middle & Uttar Palash, Korai bari, Debidanga, Ittabati, Vivekdnanda Nagar, Gulma estate & station, Salbari, Punding busty, Khaireni, Bikash Nagar, Shiv nagar etc. Labourers working in Ewam India construction site and nuns of Ewam India were also provided with a blanket, few blankets remaining are soon to be distributed to poor people in Sikkim in coming days.
The trustees, staff, nuns and the volunteers all worked hard to make this program a success. Poor beneficiaries especially those homeless infants, elders and patients were directly benefited and atleast safe from this years chilly winter.

Staffs and volunteers of the Trust visited various places in and around Siliguri to distributed the blanket to homeless, beggars, poor and needy people in chilling winter nights of January 2014. A total number of 2005 (two thousand and five) pcs of blankets were distributed.

Blanket Distribution 2018
Countless numbers of homeless, beggars and poor people suffer tremendously during cold winter nights. The Trust has distributed 1640. pcs of blankets to the for the poor people sleeping on the streets and pligrims from nearby places going to bodhgaya.
Blanket Distribution 2019
Weather during winter in this region is cold especially during the nights. Taking this into consideration a free distribution of blankets to the needy was carried out and Trust has distributed 800.pcs of blankets were distributed.

Countless numbers of homeless, beggars and poor people suffer tremendously during cold winter nights. Winter is also a season for pilgrims from hilly region of West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Bhutan who travels to Boudhgaya and other Buddhist pilgrimage sites through Siliguri, these pilgrims were mostly poor people from remote locations. As a part of annual charity program, the board member has decided to distribute blankets to these peoples to save them from this harsh winter. On the night of 9th January 2018 a team of Ewam India with blankets visited various locations such as NJP railway station, junction Tenzin Norgay Bus stand, Siliguri Government hospitals and other random location and distributed blankets to homeless, beggars and poor people. A total number of 820 poor people were benefited from this charity program.
